Sales
Sales for the IKEA Group for the financial year 2009 increased by 1.4 per cent to a total of 21.5 billion euros.
Top five sales countries
Germany 16%, USA 11%, France 10%, UK 7%, and Italy 7%.
Stores
There is a grand total of 301 IKEA stores in 37 countries/territories. The IKEA Group itself owns 267 stores in 25 countries:
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Czech republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United kingdom and USA. The other 34 stores are owned and run by franchisees outside the IKEA Group in 16 countries / territories. These are Australia (2), the United Arab Emirates (2), Cyprus (1), Greece (3), Hong Kong (3), Iceland (1), Israel (1), Kuwait (1), Malaysia (1), the Netherlands (1), Romania (1), Saudi Arabia (3), Singapore (2), Spain (4), Taiwan (4), and Turkey (4).
Co-workers
The IKEA Group has 123,000 co-workers spread across functions such as purchasing, distribution, whole-sale, range, retail, support functions and the Swedwood Group.
Distribution
IKEA has 28 distribution centres and 11 customer distribution centres in 16 countries. Using flat packs, transporting goods where possible by rail and sea, and utilising fuel-saving techniques allows us to be cost-effective and environmentally friendly.
Range
Today's IKEA range consists of 9,500 home furnishing articles, designed to be functional and good looking but at a low price. Each item is developed by IKEA of Sweden, which is also responsible for giving each product its unique name, such as BILLY and KLIPPAN.
Catalogue
Last year 198 million copies of the catalogue were printed in 54 editions and 28 languages.
